Dishcloth, Raining Cats & Dogs

Features

Cats & Dogs Dishcloth - As seen in Sunday Telegraph Stella Magazine. Graphic designer Maria Holmer Dahlgren has launched a range of colourful, printed dishcloths that are sure to make household chores much more enjoyable. Designer dishcloths are a unique idea. They have rarely been seen before in the UK but are a long-standing feature of every Scandinavian kitchen. Dahlgren, who is herself Swedish, can see no reason why the idea should not be equally successful here in Britain. Every kitchen has a dishcloth, and these designs add a wonderful twist to an otherwise mundane product. Appealing to those who like to inject a little fun and style into every area of their homes, Dahlgren hopes that the sponge cloth “will make people smile as they clean! The dishcloth design is inspired by motifs from Dahlgren’s popular ‘London’ tray, which was launched this summer with immediate success.  Dahlgren’s prints are inspired by her love of travelling, and this is the first range that she has designed for the UK. An added bonus is that the dishcloths are made from cellulose derived from wood and cotton and printed with vegetable dyes, so are completely compostable. Even better is that they are machine washable so can be reused.”

Range/Designer

Design by Maria Holmer Dahlgren's career began at internationally-renowned Swedish stationers Ordning&Reda, which she co-founded and developed for 18 years. Other achievements include being commissioned to design the interior graphics for Stockholm's stylish boutique hotel ‘Rival', owned by ABBA's Benny Andersson. Dahlgren now has her own thriving design company, Metagram. She designs a variety of contemporary trays and other pieces aimed at the high-end tourist market, and currently sells them in places such as Stockholm's ‘Moderna Museet' gallery. Rooted in her passion for travelling, her mission is to combat tacky souvenirs such as Sweden's Viking Helmets, and England's ‘I love London' Tshirts!
