All natural fibres have a unique structure and react differently to being laundered and used. In order to retain the integrity and sheen of the textiles, it's therefore important for you to get to know the natural fibres and how they behave. Follow the simple care advice included below to get the most out of your textiles.
LINEN - Linen is a hard-wearing natural fibre that is kind to the skin, with a great ability to absorb and release moisture. Properly woven, it is ideal for items such as towels, sheets, pillowcases, tablecloths and napkins. The smooth surface of the fibres also makes it relatively easy to remove dust and specks of dirt. The reward for caring for your linen is a material that ages more slowly than other materials, and becomes softer and more beautiful over time. Care Always vary the way you fold your linen, and store it rolled up. This avoids unnecessary fibre damage along the folds. Avoid too much contact with heat if you wish to retain the natural sheen and integrity of the linen. Your linen should preferably be stored in a dark, dry place. Laundry - Both linen and half-linen should be washed at 60°c - Choose a gentle programme and use a mild detergent - Wash whites and coloureds separately. Spin on a short cycle and do not tumble dry - Let the linen drip dry and rest for at least a day before mangling - Mangle once when the linen is damp and once more when the linen is dry - As an alternative to mangling, it is also fine to iron the linen on a high heat while slightly damp - Stubborn stains can be removed using a 1% chlorine solution and soapy water brushed onto the stains - Soak the linen in mild soapy water for a couple of hours - Delicate linen items are best washed by hand - We recommend dry cleaning for open-weave roll goods. OUR COATED LINEN TABLECLOTHS Linen fabric coated with water based acrylate. Does not contain PVC. Can be washed at 40 degrees celsius. Use a mild washing detergent but no fabric softener. Let the fabric drip dry instead of spinning it. Do not tumble dry. Do not dry clean. The fabric can be steam ironed on the reverse side at a medium temperature. COTTON
Cotton is a hard-wearing material that tolerates heat and light well, with good moisture absorption. Its excellent properties mean that this material is used for many different types of textile. Care Cotton easily absorbs dirt, but can also be subjected to tough cleaning. If you launder towels once before use, it increases their moisture absorption, as well as getting rid of loose textile fibres. Laundry - Wash at 40°c. Bed linen can be washed at 60°c - Cotton fabrics tolerate heat well, but shrink if washed at too high a temperature - Wash whites and coloureds separately the first time to avoid colours running - Iron or mangle damp in order to retain a smooth surface - We recommend dry cleaning for cotton voile - Avoid using rinsing agents when washing towels, as this makes them less absorbent WOOL
Wool is an elastic, insulating fibre that tolerates light and absorbs moisture extremely well. The properties of wool vary depending on the length of the fibre. Long-fibre wool is used for hard-wearing materials, while short-fibre wool gives a more warming and softer yarn that is ideal for throws. Care It is best not to wash wool too often. As an alternative to washing, wool can be aired in damp weather and then brushed down. Laundry - We recommend dry cleaning for all wool products SILK
Silk is a strong, sleek material that is highly resistant to dirt. Despite being quite thin, silk fabrics are extremely tolerant of heat and are good at absorbing moisture. Silk is easy to launder, and also dries quickly. Care Silk can be subjected to wear and laundering for a long time without losing its beauty. Do not wash too often, hang in an airy place, and air well between uses. Laundry - Wash at max 30-40°c - Choose a gentle programme and use a mild detergent - We recommend that you avoid using powder detergents, and that you do not use rinsing agents or fabric softeners - Never wash white silk with other colours
